Castles Made of Sand

September was a truly challenging month for so many people. For the residents of Puerto Rico, and those here on the Turks and Caicos Island, we endured visits from Hurricane Fiona. Last month we shared this storm video on our Facebook page and several photos of our cleanup efforts within our September blog post.

Only about one week later, Hurricane Ian was leaving all of Cuba without power before moving on to Florida and South Carolina to take the lives of more than 100 people. In my memory, I can’t recall one hurricane ever making three different landfalls and causing so much devastation and loss. While our hearts ache for so many of the families torn apart by these storms, we remain optimistic and hopeful that they will rebuild and rebound from these events.

This week, while preparing for our next guests to arrive at Villa Oasis, we took a bit of break and walked down Grace Bay Beach. We had the absolute pleasure to meet Scott, from Sandcastles in Paradise - a true artist. As you’ll see from the photos we took (below), Scott and Terri’s castles are intended to recede back into the ocean. These amazing creations remind us that so much of what we are surrounded by and sometimes take for granted, are all very temporary.

We had a simply wonderful conversation with Scott & Terri on the beach last week. These two special souls have been creating these sand sculptures for more than 35 years now. If you are planning a special event at Grace Bay Beach or in Providenciales and would love to have one of these sand sculptures created, be sure to visit the Villa Oasis EXPERIENCES page for details on how to reach them. Or Contact us directly and we’ll give you their email and phone number to make all the arrangements.
