Turks and Caicos Achieves 80% Vaccination Rate

Looks like our country’s rules for travelers visiting the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) continue to expand. While TCI has been at the forefront of all Caribbean islands in terms of covid safety protocols since July of 2020, earlier this month new requirements were established.
A few of the key changes for February 2022 include:

  1. All visitors, starting at the age of two, must show proof of a negative PCR or Antigen before entry. Previously the requirement was children starting at ages 10 and up.

  2. All visitors, ages 16 and older, must provide full proof of vaccination before entering TCI.

  3. Weddings are now limited to 50% of approved venue capacity with all attendees meeting TCI’s vaccination and testing requirements.

  4. Social gatherings of more than 15 people must have all attendees fully vaccinated or have proof or a negative test within the past 24 hours.

  5. Any fully vaccinated visitor who tests positive prior to leaving TCI are required to quarantine with all accompanying persons, at their own expense, for 10 days - with a mandatory COVID-19 test on day seven, prior to being released.

While all these rules and regulations certainly raise the bar for our visitors, it also increases the health and safety for our full-time island residents. As also report earlier this month, around 80% of the population in Turks is fully vaccinated, “making it one of the most inoculated countries in the world”.
